General Curriculum (178/278)

The General Curriculum (178/278) test includes two subtests. Candidates must take and pass both subtests. You may take one or both subtests at one test appointment.

Format

Computer-based test (CBT);

Subtest 1: Language Arts and History/Social Science (178): 60 multiple-choice questions and 1 open-response item
Subtest 2: Mathematics, Science, and Technology/Engineering (278): 60 multiple-choice questions and 1 open-response item

Time

4 hours and 15 minutes total appointment time

15 minutes for CBT tutorial and nondisclosure agreement
4 hours testing time for one or both subtests

By appointment year-round, Monday through Saturday (excluding some holidays)
